The historic Apple House at Mapleside Farms now has a large central bar in the middle, with open seating and communal tables around it. Mapleside calls the room The Great Room. Behind the farm's big wine barrel, the old bakery is now The Press. The gift shop next door is The Library, with old wood bookshelves, leather chairs and low lamps. Together the three rooms make up The Social House, which Mapleside says is open year-round at 294 Pearl Road.
The bags of apples and jugs of cider are still at Mapleside, just in a different building. Mapleside's single fall stop has become two: one for daytime farm errands and one for evenings, and the evening one is the part meant to keep the farm busy after Pumpkin Village closes on October 31.
Where Everything Moved
Longtime visitors who walk in through the old Apple House doors will find the layout reorganized. This is what each familiar space holds now, based on Mapleside's own pages:
| If you used to go to... | It's now... | What you'll find there |
|---|---|---|
| The Apple House | The Great Room, inside The Social House | Central bar, communal tables, food and drinks |
| The bakery | The Press, inside The Social House | Described as the morning room for coffee and pastries, then cocktails, wine and food later in the day |
| The gift shop | The Library, inside The Social House | A quieter seating room that can close off for private gatherings |
| Apple and cider sales | The Apple Barn, across from the BBQ tent | Bag-your-own orchard apples, fresh cider, caramel apples, snacks and dry goods |
Mapleside describes the Apple Barn as having "everything you love about the Apple House, just in a fresh new space." Its posted hours are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday, 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday. It's closed Mondays. The farm hasn't published a separate November schedule, so it's worth checking the homepage before a cold-weather trip for cider.
Cider donuts are the one item to plan around. Mapleside's Pumpkin Village page lists "Famous Apple Cider Donuts" among the treats sold at Pumpkin Village, while the Apple Barn's product list names cider, caramel apples and dry goods but doesn't mention donuts. Pumpkin Village's 2026 season runs through October 31. If donuts are part of your family's fall routine, the final Pumpkin Village weekend, October 30 and 31, is the window Mapleside's own pages connect them to.
Why the Farm Rebuilt Its Busiest Rooms
The change makes more sense when you hear how the owner describes the farm's calendar. Mapleside owner Greg Clement told the Medina Gazette that people mostly visit the farm in the fall, and that the goal is for The Social House to give Mapleside a year-round reason to visit.
"We're still going to do all the things we normally do like the festivals, concerts, weddings and events, but this is allowing us to have that year-round anchor."
Clement said that in the same Medina Gazette story. He also told the paper that grapes were planted on the farm three years ago and are now producing fruit that can be used in wine. On its own site, Mapleside says "much of what we pour is grown a few hundred yards from where it is served."
That history goes back a long way. The Eyssen family bought the land in 1927 and planted the first apple trees. For close to a hundred years, the Apple House was the room built around harvest season. Now it's built around a bar meant to stay open in January.
Cleveland Magazine previewed the project in early September and said the grand opening was expected this fall. Mapleside's site now lists The Social House as open.
How The Social House Works
The format is different from a typical restaurant, and knowing that before you go saves a confused minute at the door. Mapleside calls it "Hybrid Service," and it works like this:
- Walk in and choose a table or a seat at the bar. There's no host stand.
- Order as much or as little as you want.
- Staff bring the food to your table. There are no servers taking orders at the table.
The posted hours:
- Tuesday to Thursday: 4 p.m. to 10 p.m., kitchen until 9 p.m.
- Friday: 4 p.m. to 11 p.m., kitchen until 10 p.m.
- Saturday: noon to 11 p.m., kitchen until 10 p.m.
- Sunday: noon to 6 p.m., kitchen until 6 p.m.
- Monday: closed
Mapleside describes The Press as opening early for coffee and pastries. The posted Social House hours, though, start at 4 p.m. on weekdays and noon on weekends, so check before driving over for a morning coffee.
The farm says the space feels "warm and family-friendly" by day and more relaxed and lingering at night. The food menu is built for sharing: boards, pizza, warm small plates, sandwiches, wraps and sweets. Named dishes include the Orchard Salad, Apple Bacon & Cheddar Pinsa, Orchard Pork Pinsa and Apple Fritter Bread Pudding. The Fall 2026 menu also lists a warm cookie skillet, an apple crisp skillet and quarter pie. That's handy for anyone missing the old bakery case.
On the drinks side, the menu lists Melrose Apple Pilsner, Sixty Mile Hefeweizen, 1777 West Coast IPA and Twelve Houses Light Lager, plus ciders named Doctor's Orders and Miss Sally. There are also orchard-inspired spritzes and a zero-proof menu, so a driver or a grandparent who doesn't drink still has something to order.
The Library is the room to know about if you're planning a family gathering. With its doors open it's a quieter place to sit and talk, and with the doors closed Mapleside offers it as a private room for celebrations.
The Last Pumpkin Village Weekend Overlaps Trick-or-Treat
The weekend of October 30 and 31 is the last stretch of the old fall routine, and it lines up with Brunswick's own Halloween plans.
- Friday, October 30, 4 to 9 p.m.: Spooky Fest opens the final weekend. This is also the last Fun Friday, with discounted Pumpkin Village admission of $15 from 4 to 9 p.m.
- Saturday, October 31, 11 a.m. to 9 p.m.: Spooky Fest's last day, which Mapleside calls the final weekend of the season.
- Saturday, October 31, departures from 3 p.m.: Halloween-afternoon Vino the Way, a 21+ tasting walk through the corn maze. Mapleside's homepage said every other date had sold out and called these the final tickets of the season. It also invites guests to stop by The Social House before or after for Halloween food and drink specials. The full Vino the Way experience includes a hayride through the orchard, a food pairing box and five wine and beer stations in the maze, starting at $38.
- Saturday, October 31, 6 to 8 p.m.: Trick-or-treat in the City of Brunswick.
Because Saturday's Spooky Fest runs until 9 p.m. and the city's trick-or-treat hours are 6 to 8 p.m., Friday evening, October 30, is the only time that weekend when the farm's final festival doesn't overlap neighborhood trick-or-treating. It's also the cheaper admission night.
After October 31
Pumpkin Village ends on October 31, but The Social House is billed as open year-round with its posted hours. Mapleside lists Breakfast with Santa on select dates in December 2026, with breakfast, Santa visits, crafts and cookie decorating. Exact dates hadn't been posted yet. The farm also bills its Concerts in the Barn series as winter programming. That page says the 2026 season has wrapped and the next lineup is coming soon.
So after Halloween, a Brunswick household can still sit in the old Apple House on a Friday night in December, order an apple crisp skillet and a cider, and look out over the same valley.
When a room your family has used for decades takes on a new purpose, it can bring up a lot, and that's true of houses as much as farm stands. If you're thinking about what comes next for a longtime Brunswick home, whether that means staying, rightsizing or helping a parent plan, Life Stages Realty can start with a calm, no-pressure home valuation and a plan that moves at your pace.
